Peterhouse-Selwyn ended Downing's two-month long unbeaten run in a thrilling encounter at Grange Road.With only a minute to go, the valiant Downing side scored a try under the posts, giving them a narrow lead. However the blue and white army never gave up, and following a crunching tackle by Spillane on the ball-catcher from the kick-off, came from behind to win 34-30, with a try from Mike Harvey in the dying seconds of the game.
